GPA Calculator for Chinese Universities
Chinese universities natively use percentage marks (out of 100) rather than a GPA. For international applications, percentages are converted to a 4.0 scale using bands: 95–100 = 4.0, 90–94 = 4.0, 85–89 = 3.7, 82–84 = 3.3, 78–81 = 3.0, 75–77 = 2.7, and so on. This is the WES-style conversion accepted by most US graduate-school admissions offices.

Chinese universities issue both a percentage average and a class rank. For US grad school applications, GPA conversion plus class-rank percentile is more weighted than the raw average alone. A Tsinghua average of 88 (3.7 GPA equivalent) ranking in the top 10% is generally viewed equivalently to a 3.7+ GPA from a US Ivy.
