Bavarian Formula for German Grade Conversion
The modified Bavarian formula is mainly used to convert grades earned outside Germany into the German scale. It compares the best possible grade, the minimum passing grade and the applicant grade. Treat the result as non-binding unless the receiving university publishes it for your program.

German grade = 1 + 3 x (Nmax - Nd) / (Nmax - Nmin)
- Nmax: best possible grade in the original system.
- Nmin: minimum passing grade in the original system.
- Nd: your grade in the original system.

Important note
The Bavarian formula does not create an official US GPA. German universities, uni-assist, WES and US admissions offices may each use their own evaluation method.
