Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 October 2026
This policy covers the KnowGPA website (knowgpa.web.app) and the KnowGPA Android app, both made by AS Binaries.
In short
- You don’t need an account.
- Your grades stay on your device or in your browser.
- Ads are served by Google.
- Questions? Email asbinaries@gmail.com.
Who we are
KnowGPA is developed by AS Binaries. You can reach us at asbinaries@gmail.com.
The website
Your grades
GPA calculations run in your browser. We don’t receive the courses, credits or grades you enter.
So that your work survives a page reload, the calculator keeps your entries and any grading-scale changes in your browser’s session storage. Session storage is cleared when you close the tab. The site doesn’t use local storage or IndexedDB, and our own code sets no cookies. To make repeat visits faster, the site also keeps a copy of its own code and images in your browser’s cache.
Ads (Google AdSense)
The website shows ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can read how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services, and you can turn off personalised ads in Google’s ad settings. To opt out of personalised ads from other vendors, visit www.aboutads.info/choices.
Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase)
The calculator pages use Google Analytics for Firebase to tell us how the site is used: which pages are viewed, the type of device and browser, the approximate location derived from the IP address, and a few actions such as using the share button or opening a calculation guide. It uses cookies to recognise repeat visits. We don’t send your grades to Analytics. You can block it with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
Hosting
The website is hosted on Firebase Hosting, a Google service. Like any web host, it processes standard request data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the pages to you.
Feedback
If you report a problem through our feedback form, it opens a Google Form. You choose what to send, and Google’s privacy policy applies to the form.
The Android app
No account
The app doesn’t ask you to sign up or log in.
Your calculations
Your calculations, their names and your grades are stored only on your device and are never sent to us. If you have turned on Android backup, your device may include the app’s data in your own Google backup.
Data the app downloads
The app downloads university lists, grading scales, subject lists and ad settings from our data server on Cloudflare. These requests carry no personal information beyond standard request data (IP address and device type), which Cloudflare processes to deliver the files.
Ads (Google AdMob)
The app shows banner ads from Google AdMob. AdMob may collect your device’s advertising ID, IP address, approximate location derived from the IP address, device information and how you interact with ads. Google uses this to show, measure and personalise ads and to prevent fraud.
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, the app shows Google’s consent form, and you can change your choice at any time in the app under Settings → Privacy choices. Anyone can reset or delete their advertising ID in Android settings. See how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Rate and Feedback
“Rate” and “Feedback” in the app’s Settings open Google Play and a Google Form. Google’s privacy policy applies there.
Permissions
The app doesn’t ask for access to your contacts, photos, files, camera, microphone or precise location.
What we don’t do
- We don’t require an account.
- We don’t sell personal data.
- We don’t store your grades on our servers.
Children
KnowGPA is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will remove it.
Security
All connections to the website and to our data server use HTTPS. No grade data is kept on our servers.
Retention and deletion
Apart from feedback you choose to send us, we hold no personal data from the app or the website. Google keeps the advertising and analytics data it collects under its own retention policies.
- App: delete a calculation in the app, clear the app’s data, or uninstall the app to remove everything stored on your device.
- Website: close the tab, or clear this site’s data in your browser settings.
- Feedback: email us and we will delete your feedback responses.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
